heat oil and add mustard and fenugreek seeds.
Add curry leaves, green chillies, and onions and saute. After the Onions have turned pink add the potatoes.
also add tomatoes and saute.
Add a sambar powder and mix well.
Add tamarind pulp and mix well. Cover and cook this until the potatoes are soft.
check if the potatoes are done, prik a knife thought a potato and you will come to know if the they are cooked well.
wash the dals and soak for 10 minutes
add turmeric powder
take 3 whistles in a pressure cooker, cook until soft and mushy
add this dal to the tamarind prepation and mix.
Add the prepared coconut paste
mix it well.
Prepare tampering by heating oil, frying mustard seeds, curry leaves and broken red chillies.
Pour the tempering and serve
